Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan, the sorcerer of the Shehnai, the age-old man of Indian classical music, has been one of the most respected musical personalities in the country. Born in Dumraon, a small town in Bihar, every breath of Khan Saheb was devoted to the notes of shehnai. He kept looking for liberation in music throughout his life by making Banaras his karmabhoomi. In pursuit of this liberation, he played tireless shehnai from wedding weddings to international stage music. He was an authorized shehnai player of the Vishwanath temple in Kashi. Shehnai's voice in the Hindi film 'Gunj Uthi Shehnai' gave her a place in the hearts of common people of the country.
